Cueva del Indio is a very well-known spot, and you've probably seen it in online videos if you haven't been to it yourself. This majestic rock formation and cave structure is amazing to look at, and boasts many visitors every day.
However, many people end up paying for access to this location when it's completely unnecessary.
The main entrance to Cueva del Indio is located by some restaurants in a populated area. There are plenty of spots labelled with the name of the location, photos, and signs. This is very similar to the Pozo de Jacinto, where people want you to pay for parking and access, but it's not at all necessary. If you haven't checked out that blog post yet, click here to read about how you can visit this phenomenal spot about an hour and a half from Cueva del Indio:

Anyways, back to Cueva del Indio.

Cueva del Indio
This spot is located on the northern coast of the island, slightly to the west of the center of the island:

Located near the northern town of Arecibo, this cave formation has pre-Columbian petroglyphs, and is rich with history. If you're daring enough, you can walk through the caves with bats too! While you might read online that you need to schedule time in or pay to access it, this is all false.
The parking are where most people park and are expected to pay is located here:

This is private property where people pay to park and follow a nicely kept trail to the cliffs. However, there are plenty of spots located along PR-681 where you can park on the side of the road and walk along the beach.
The area marked as "Cueva Del Indio Surf Beach" is the beach you walk along until you get to the cliffs, and it's a fairly short walk - about 10 minutes depending on how far away you park.
There, you'll find the sign clearly marked "Entrada Gratis", or "Free Entrance".
To see how I got to and up the cliffs, watch below!
